Taiwan’s TECO signs renewable power deal with chipmaker

| TECO Electric and Machinery Co. said Thursday that it has signed a corporate power purchase agreement with a semiconductor manufacturer to supply more than 30 MW of renewable power.
The long-term agreement covers more than 300 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable power, per CNA. TECO said deliveries under the agreement are expected to begin before the end of this year and gradually reach stable supply levels. The company expects the deal to create a long-term revenue stream and provide more predictable cash flow from electricity sales. TECO said the project will aggregate electricity from renewable power plants and supply it to the customer through a diversified arrangement. The approach aims to improve supply stability and flexibility while meeting the renewable energy needs of large electricity users. The semiconductor customer is a major participant in the global supply chain with strict requirements for renewable energy use, TECO said. The company added that it is negotiating additional renewable power agreements with high-tech manufacturers. TECO said it is developing into an energy solutions provider by integrating solar power, energy storage, and smart energy management systems. The company plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio and develop virtual power plants. |
