Taiwan legislative speaker to lead cross-party delegation to US

| TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) will lead a cross-party delegation to the US on Sunday, with stops planned in Arizona and Washington, DC.
The group includes Taiwan People’s Party Legislator Hung Yu-hsiang (洪毓祥), Democratic Progressive Party Legislators Kuo Yu-ching (郭昱晴), Lee Po-yi (李柏毅), and Chen Kuan-ting (陳冠廷), and Kuomintang Legislators Yang Chiung-ying (楊瓊瓔), Lai Shyh-bao (賴士葆), and Lin Szu-ming (林思銘), per CNA. The delegation is expected to arrive in Phoenix on June 21 US time. While in Arizona, the lawmakers are set to visit TSMC’s local facility and attend a lunch event with members of the Taiwanese community, according to the report. Han’s delegation is scheduled to travel to Washington on June 23. Meetings with US lawmakers are planned, while a meeting with the US executive branch is possible but has not been confirmed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reportedly left time in the schedule for a possible meeting with US officials, though the agency and level have not been disclosed. The group is also expected to attend a dinner hosted by Taiwan’s representative to the US, Alexander Yui (俞大㵢), per the report. Han is expected to speak at Taoyuan International Airport before departure. The delegation is due to return to Taiwan on June 26. |
