Taiwan hotel groups eye expansion

| TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan hotel operators are adding overseas properties, new domestic sites, and contract-management projects as international travel demand continues to recover.
Silks Hotel Group, Leofoo Tourism Group, and FDC International Hotels Corp. are each expanding through different business models, from overseas hotel brands to eco-tourism sites and managed properties, per CNA. Silks said five new Taiwan hotels are under development with about 430 rooms. The pipeline includes new Silks Place and Just Sleep sites in Linkou planned for mid-2027, Wellspring by Silks in Toucheng, Yilan, and Just Sleep Kenting Baishawan, which are expected to open in 2028, according to the report. The group is also preparing a second Just Sleep hotel in Osaka in 2027. Its Regent brand opened new locations in Shanghai, the US, and Bali last year, with Saudi Arabia and Kyoto projects planned next. Leofoo is moving toward a broader tourism platform by linking hotels, transport, itineraries, and attractions. Its Yilan ecological conservation area is expected to open in phases from late 2026, covering Cilan, Mingchi, and the Divine Trees Garden, per the report. The company also plans lodging sites at Cilan and Mingchi and will open Mingchi Station first to serve travelers on Provincial Highway 7. Its own travel agency is scheduled to start operations this year. FDC said its Hangzhou hotel is expected to begin trial operations in the third quarter, with 190 rooms, five dining and bar venues, and banquet space, per the report. In Taiwan, the company is preparing a Taichung banquet hall and two high-end restaurants for launch in the second half of the year. |
