Taichung hosts Taiwan International Machine Tool Show after 8 years
台中時隔八年再次舉辦台灣國際工具機展
| TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan International Machine Tool Show opened Wednesday in Taichung after eight years, drawing hundreds of companies and international buyers.
Taichung City Government said the show runs from Wednesday to Saturday at the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center. It brings together about 400 companies and 1,800 booths, marking the first large-scale professional exhibition at the new venue. Organizers said the show highlights Taiwan’s role in the global machine tool industry. It also provides a platform for companies to showcase new technologies and connect with overseas buyers. UDN reported that Taichung Vice Mayor Cheng Chao-hsin (鄭照新) attended the opening ceremony on behalf of Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕). He said the return of the event marks an important milestone for both the industry and the city. Cheng said the sector has faced multiple challenges in recent years. These include the COVID-19 pandemic, global conflicts, currency fluctuations, and rising international competition. He added that changes in US tariff policies have created uncertainty for Taiwan’s export-oriented industries. As the US is a key market, tariff differences have directly affected competitiveness. However, Cheng said the show’s return reflects the industry’s efforts to find new opportunities and transform. He said the event offers companies a chance to expand markets and strengthen global cooperation. Liberty Times reported that Taichung is a major hub for precision machinery, hand tools, bicycles, aerospace, and optics industries. The city has a complete industrial supply chain supporting manufacturing and exports. The city government said the exhibition allows buyers to visit factories, place orders, and connect with suppliers in one trip. This “front shop, back factory” model improves efficiency and boosts the global visibility of Taichung-made products, per Economic Daily News. “Front shop, back factory” is a business model where the “front shop” handles sales, display, and customer service, while the “back factory” focuses on production. It means buyers can see products, place orders, and then quickly connect to nearby factories that make the goods, improving speed and efficiency. |
