| TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung on Thursday launched a monthlong promotion linking hotel stays with public transport and shopping discounts through its Taichung Go service.
The campaign runs until Feb. 15 and is designed to make travel easier by bundling lodging, transport and spending perks. The city’s transport bureau said the initiative will help visitors plan trips and move around the city with less hassle. Under the promotion, travelers who book designated hotels through Taiwan High Speed Rail holiday packages can purchase discounted multi-day transit passes. The passes cover buses, the metro system and other public transport, allowing visitors to travel across the city on a single ticket. The bureau said the city has also partnered with hotels and shops to offer additional deals during the campaign period. Visitors can use their Taichung Go pass at partner stores to receive dining, lodging and retail discounts. Officials said the first 100 guests at two partner hotels who complete their bookings early will receive free 24-hour Taichung Go passes, with one pass provided per guest. The incentive is intended to encourage visitors to use public transport. The bureau added that users earn Taichung Go points once they activate their passes, which can be redeemed for items such as coffee or car-sharing time. |
