New Taipei’s Christmasland opens Nov 14
新北聖誕城週五開幕
| TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — New Taipei City’s annual Christmasland will open Friday with performances featuring a circus, aerialists, hot air balloons, light sculptures, and a tree-lighting ceremony, per CNA.
The New Taipei Tourism and Travel Bureau said this year’s theme is Circus Carnival, drawing creative inspiration from LINE friends. The layout features four themed zones and a main light show that captures the city’s festive winter atmosphere. The bureau said the main light display incorporates 3D effects that can be viewed without special glasses. It also features dynamic mechanical installations synchronized to music, creating an immersive experience for visitors. Christmasland will run for 45 days, concluding on Dec. 28. Both domestic and international tourists are encouraged to stay at local hotels and bed-and-breakfasts to enjoy a winter holiday in the city. The New Taipei Transportation Bureau warned that roads around City Hall will experience heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic throughout the event. A cross-departmental traffic management plan has been implemented to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow. Traffic signals will be adjusted in real time based on crowd density and vehicle volume. Temporary parking will be prohibited, and bicycles will not be allowed on the pedestrian walkways of Civic Square from 4–11 p.m. daily. Authorities advise the public to use public transportation to avoid congestion. |
