Tainan demonstrates advances in AI-driven healthcare
台南展示了人工智慧驅動健康與復健領域的進展
| TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The digital ministry brought hospitals and tech companies together in Tainan on Tuesday to find real-world uses for AI in healthcare and rehab, CNA reported.
The event was called “Demo Day” and took place at National Cheng Kung University. Eight companies demonstrated tools such as group fitness software, smart care aids, fitness testing systems, and AI-driven dental imaging devices. Digital Ministry Deputy Minister Isabel Hou (侯宜秀) said Taiwan should focus on real-world AI use rather than chasing frontier model innovation. She added that while the US leads in AI innovation and China works on optimization, Taiwan’s edge should be in practical applications. Hou said doctors in Taiwan have been eager to learn AI since related education programs began. She noted that the exhibitors already combine medical knowledge with AI in promising ways. She said the ministry plans to help companies connect with users early so they can better understand needs and adjust products quickly. The goal, she added, is to keep Taiwan at the front of AI-driven healthcare. According to the Administration for Digital Industries, the digital ministry has hosted similar events since 2024 to speed up AI adoption in digital health industries. It said these efforts are helping Taiwan move from research to real applications. |
