AI software to bring autonomous capabilities to ground vehicles and sea vessels
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Thunder Tiger signed a deal with US-based Auterion on Wednesday to embed advanced AI into its entire range of unmanned vehicles. The partnership builds on the recent high-profile success of Thunder Tiger’s Overkill attack drone in June, which uses Auterion’s AI for live-fire target recognition, per CNA. Thunder Tiger said the integration significantly boosts the drone’s accuracy and data processing in combat. On land, the drone maker is preparing to debut its Tiger Road unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition in September, per UDN. Designed for coastal terrain missions, the UGV will feature Auterion’s AI-based navigation and obstacle detection to support ground troop deployments. At sea, Thunder Tiger recently demonstrated its Sea Shark 800 unmanned surface vessel (USV) during a two-day test hosted by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology in Yilan. The vessel completed a 60-kilometer voyage with stable communications, while showcasing strong AI performance in navigation. The company said the Sea Shark 800 exceeded test expectations and confirmed its reliability for defense missions. The platform is now being upgraded with deeper Auterion integration to improve autonomous capabilities. Last week, Auterion signed a deal with National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology to further develop the company’s autonomous systems and swarming capabilities. |
