Drone group signs MOUs with AUVSI and Oklahoma Defense Industry Association at Xponential
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA) participated in the Xponential exhibition in Houston, Texas, from May 19 to 22. Hu Kai-hung (胡開宏), chair of TEDIBOA and the Aerospace Industrial Development Corp., led a delegation to the event, including the Taiwan National Defense Industry Development Association, the Taiwan Aerospace Industry Association, Coretronic Intelligent Robotics Corp., and Thunder Tiger Corp., per CNA. This year's Xponential, a leading global exhibition for uncrewed systems, drew more than 650 exhibitors showcasing technologies for air, ground, and maritime applications. It also featured a Taiwan Pavilion, which highlighted the nation's drone technologies and aimed to foster international business collaboration. TEDIBOA signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the world's largest uncrewed systems organization, with over 600 member companies from over 60 countries. Raymond Greene, American Institute in Taiwan director; Yvonne Hsiao (蕭伊芳), director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston; and Charlie Chiang (江振瑋), director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of NGO International Affairs, were at the signing. The alliance also signed an MOU with the Oklahoma Defense Industry Association. This follows a visit in October when Oklahoma Secretary of Energy and Environment Ken McQueen led a state industry delegation to Taiwan to seek partnerships. Greene visited the Taiwan Pavilion, where he emphasized the deep collaboration between Taiwan and the US in key sectors such as AI, semiconductors, and drone manufacturing. He noted that the close industrial ties are expected to bring significant economic benefits to both countries. Greene added that further collaboration will also focus on advanced manufacturing. He highlighted Taiwan’s strengths in the robotics industry as a sector that would help strengthen the American industrial base. Hu said that the exhibition was an opportunity to promote bilateral technological integration. He added that the event could accelerate the development of Taiwan’s drone technologies while helping alliance members expand into diverse overseas markets. In May, TEDIBOA led a delegation of eight Taiwanese companies from the drone, ICT, and aerospace sectors to Estonia, where it signed two MOUs with the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association and the Estonian Aviation Cluster. In February, the alliance also signed an agreement with the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic to strengthen drone cooperation. |
