Green building is part of project that will create over 15,000 jobs
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Fertilizer Co. broke ground Thursday on its new D7-B building, a key addition to the Hsinchu Science Park business district. The project is part of a long-term strategy to transform the district into a hub for industrial innovation, sustainable development, and high-tech advancement. Upon completion, the park is projected to generate over 15,000 jobs and cultivate a robust talent pool in Hsinchu, per CNA. Designed to meet green and smart building standards, the D7-B project will consist of two office towers aimed at supporting low-carbon and sustainable business operations. The buildings will occupy a 7,500-ping (24,793 square meters) site, offering a total floor area of 47,000 ping, with completion targeted for 2028. Hsinchu, widely known as the cradle of Taiwan’s tech sector and a global innovation hub, offers a strategic base for Taiwan Fertilizer’s expansion. The company holds 190,000 square meters of core land in the business district and is aligning its development efforts with national industrial policies to support the high-tech supply chain. Chair Lee Sun-jung (李孫榮) said the D7-B launch represents a pivotal step in the company’s regional development blueprint. Taiwan Fertilizer also plans to advance projects on the adjacent D4 and D5 plots, expanding the total development area to 18,000 ping and total floor space to 95,000 ping by 2031. The firm also noted the success of its first-phase project, TFC One, which has achieved full occupancy and drawn leading global and local tech firms including Nvidia, Intel, ASML, Tokyo Electron, and Tron Future. The building now serves as a vital research and operations base for sectors such as semiconductors, AI, integrated circuit design, and unmanned systems. The latest development phase supports the Cabinet’s “Creating a new Silicon Valley in Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli” by promoting integration across the tech ecosystem. Taiwan Fertilizer aims to enhance collaboration among academia, research institutions, and industry, while linking with Taoyuan International Airport’s logistics network to drive global competitiveness. |
