TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Thai actor Teeradetch Metawarayut, popularly known as Alek, promoted Taiwan at the Thai International Travel Fair in Bangkok on Saturday. The event aimed to encourage Thai travelers to visit Taiwan during the Songkran New Year holiday in April, CNA reported. Earlier this month, Alek accepted the role of Taiwan's tourism ambassador and participated in the launch of a nine-minute promotional film titled “Taiwan(na) Go with Me?” At the expo, Alek watched the film alongside visitors and shared his experiences from five trips to Taiwan. He highlighted Taiwanese cuisine and named Kaohsiung as one of his favorite destinations, praising its coastal charm. The actor described Taiwan as culturally similar to Thailand, with locals who are open to tourism and always eager to assist visitors. He recounted being the sole visitor on Matsu during the off-season and how the owner of a local bed-and-breakfast helped him locate open restaurants. According to Taiwan’s Tourism Administration, 356,000 Thais visited Taiwan from January to November 2024, marking a 2.56% increase compared to the same period in 2023. |
