International art fair Taipei Dangdai to feature works from 90 galleries and 42 cities

台北當代國際藝術博覽會將展出90個畫廊和42個城市的作品

The art fair is presented by UBS with four exhibition sectors, featuring highlights from the Ideas Program

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The International art fair titled "Taipei Dangdai" has launched ticket sales online and will take place on Jan. 18 to 20 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

Taipei Dangdai (台北當代藝術博覽會) has established a great reputation since its first year. This year, the art fair is presented by UBS and will feature four exhibition sectors, with highlights from the company's Ideas Program.

Taipei Dangdai will gather 90 galleries from artists and groups from major cities, such as New York, London, Hong Kong, and also showcase the thriving artistic creativity of Taiwan. The event will serve as a platform for creative minds to communicate and collaborate.

Magnus Renfrew, Fair Director of Taipei Dangdai, said this about the event.

"Our aspiration is to bring new collectors into the market with our unique structure of sectors, offering quality at every price point. Art is about ideas which are common to all of us and Taipei Dangdai aspires to be a meeting place for the exchange of these ideas, providing a context which unpackages art for the wider audience and reduces the intimidation factor.”

Taipei Dangdai will bring together a program of galleries and talents from a wide range of disciplines, who will participate across the fair’s four sectors and join the "Ideas Program" talks, which will span the fair’s duration.

The Ideas Program will present a multi-disciplinary line-up of discussions led by cultural figures from Taiwan with topics based on the "Past, Present, and Future." The key industry experts will share their ideas on subjects such as art history, archeology, city branding, innovation and more.

Additionally, the four gallery sectors will be the "Young Galleries sector" which will highlight four promising galleries that have been operating less than eight years; the "Galleries sector" which will present 73 galleries from over 42 cities; the "Solos sector" which will showcase curated exhibitions by established artists, such as Minoru Onoda, Chihoi, Yuko Murata and more; lastly the "Salon sector" is where all the galleries will present one piece of artwork priced below US$8,000.

There will be 15 guided tours led by the Taipei Contemporary Art Centre for the general public. The organization Little Art will lead tours for children through the venue. Registration is required for all tours and details can be found on the website.

Taipei Dangdai will take place from Jan. 18 to 20 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. The tickets are available online now.
